Communication Improvement

Ineffective communication has been identified as the most frequently cited category of root causes of sentinel events.  The 9 + one program recognizes that as a key patient safety issue, understanding the specific factors that contribute to ineffective communication is essential.  Only when we understand when and why communication most often breaks down, can healthcare organizations and their providers make more substantial improvements in performance and patient safety. With this in mind, the 9 + one program provides teams with the skills and tools to address communication issues identified by the program’s Healthcare Communication Effectiveness Survey (HCES) so that teams can make substantial, measurable improvements in communication and patient safety
